Spring is that You?

0 Permalink 0

I thought that Phil the groundhog didn’t see his shadow?? That means early spring but it’s been nothing but cold and snow ever since he came out of that hole. One of the biggest things I’m looking forward to (more now then ever) is breaking out my spring clothes!! I’ve rotated my favorite 4 sweaters long enough! In all seriousness, take a look at your closet and look through alllll the stuff you wear only during one season. It’s kinda crazy. Lauren Conrad’s Style book is a great resource for narrowing down your closet and shopping for things you actually need. And it has awesome pictures :)

I know when I moved out of my parents house my mom took over my closet… She hung clothes in there that I haven’t seen since I graduated high school! I have no idea how or where all this stuff came from. All I know is that she better not mess up my Derek Jeter shrine in the back of my closet. Those newspaper clipping could be worth something someday!

Spring storage tips

Well, organizing my life, closet included, is on my to-do this year. I recently came across this awesome on-demand storage company and they l.i.t.e.r.a.l.l.y send you boxes, pick them up, and then put them in storage for you. All lazy people bow down! Can you imagine how your closet would look if you rotated seasonal clothes? Omg it would look like this –

Perfect spring closet

via Style at Home

Who doesn’t want that?!?!?! Who wouldn’t give up a first born for this! You really should think about putting things into storage and checking these guys out. It’s one easy step that could relieve some stress. Especially my friends in NYC, you seriously should look into their storage!! I’ve seen your closets, or lack there of…

Here are a few great ways to clean out your closet going into spring (because I know you all need a little spring cleaning motivation) –

1. Fold All Sweaters

Some sweaters take up so much space if you hang them. First of all, I only hang certain ones because if they are too heavy they will destroy the shoulders, and it’s so upsetting when that happens. I suggest folding. Keep a few spring sweaters or perfect layering cardigans at easy access because you’ll wear those all the time. Everything else, why not pack up and put away in storage! Throw in a few dryer sheets to keep them smelling nice and you’ll be so happy come fall.

2. Seasonal Jeans vs Everyday Jeans

If you said that statement to any male they would be so confused and ask a million questions, laugh, or just roll their eyes. But ladies, we all know there are 2 distinct differences!! Light jeans, white jeans, and super destroyed jeans are for warmer weather only so they rarely get worn in the cooler months, unless you get to go on vacation, you lucky little betch… Keep your seasonal jeans separated so when you don’t do laundry for a few weeks you don’t think you have tons of clean jeans. #SpeakingFromExperience

3. Shoes

If you are like me you easily have 10-20 different pairs of shoes but only wear your favorite 5. I have shoes for weddings specifically, shoes that I got such a great deal on, and shoes I just needed to have. Sending shoes out in storage is a cool new solution for cleaning up the biggest source of clutter in your closet! If they are away in storage and you haven’t even missed them once, then maybe getting rid of them forever is a permanent solution to de-clutter! One of my goals for this spring is to get a bookcase or shelving to organize my shoes on. Looks way prettier than lining the floor in my closet lol

After some reorganizing it looks like I may need to treat myself to a few new spring items :) No need to pull my arm or anything!! Best of luck with spring cleaning. I’m counting down the days until the snow melts and the green grass pops through so I can wear my nude wedges again.

Well, I’m taking this amazing holiday and turning it into some motivation. I’m not talking drinking till you can’t stand motivation but more so like work so hard so you deserve that motherf*$#’n drink motivation!!

Happy Monday! It’s a balmy 11 degrees out. This weekend hit about -30 with windchill. I had NO IDEA we lived in the arctic…

Motivation Monday

As I mentioned in my recent goals post I wanted to start doing some Motivation Monday posts to just give myself a little pep talking going into the week. We all can always use some motivation to get us this through the hectic work week especially when the sun doesn’t come out and all we see is the color grey and are our skin is all so milky white… Anyways, take some free motivation! Go have a killer week :)

What To Accomplish in 2016

0 Permalink 1

Yes, I’m about 33 days behind on this “2016 goal” mumbo jumbo. But here’s the deal – didn’t know what my goals were until I knew how 2016 was going to start out! Oooobviously “be skinny”, “lose weight”, “don’t eat Taco Bell 2 times a week” are at the top of the list but there is more to it. After thinking about I’ve come up with a list. Yes, it’s totally a 20 somethings list because I’m gonna milk that line till the last moment possible but for real we all need to remember we are only in a our 20’s once… let’s not fret about the $20 dinner.

Goals for 2016

Life —

Work —

  • Less chit chat throughout the day
  • Don’t sweat the small stuff
  • Leave work at work, don’t bring it home
  • Quit bitching, complaining, venting
  • Get that f***ing promotion!

Home —

  • Try a different Pinterest recipe at least 4 times a month
  • Fully complete the spare bedroom & closet room
  • More crafts, crafts, crafts
  • Go to Ikea!!!!

Finances —

  • Put away something into savings every 2 weeks (can be 5 bucks)
  • Pay down credit card & pay off store cards
  • By end of the year have another “points” credit card

Health —

  • Do the Kayla Itsines workout ALL THE WAY THROUGH
  • Eat less dairy (this is so, so hard already)
  • Less going out to eat, more eating at home
  • Try organic options (even though they cost more and it kills me inside)
  • Try a new workout class
  • Workout 4 days a week

Some of these seem stupid or easy but my goal is to actually stick to it for the whole year. Some are general but I need to start somewhere! It actually feels great to write these goals down. After reading Cupcakes & Cashmere the other day, she linked to this amazing article that I can’t get out of my head. I highly suggest reading it, especially if you are in your 20s like me. It made me feel a bit better about my financial state and made me realize I’m not the only one… YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE! We all probably need to stop fretting about the small stuff and treat your self to the manicure or to a few drinks out. It will make you feel so much better.

I’m most excited for reading more. It hit me today that I need to read a book and I need to read a book to get motivated and out of this bitchy rut I feel like I’m in. Some of it is good stuff because if I wasn’t bitching about something then I think something would be wrong. That would mean everything is too perfect and let’s not lie to ourselves… it ain’t perfect (especially all you bloggers out there showing off your perfect, catalog looking homes) Anyway, I hate to admit this but I haven’t read a book in full in years. Probably since college and I probably spark noted it or watched the relatable movie lol. I want to switch it up and read before bed instead of cruising my phone apps. We will see how it goes.

I’m also feeling motivated to start doing a Motivation Monday series! My friend Brook has been doing them and even if it’s just a post of pictures, it give me that little extra pop of motivation for the day/week. So stay tuned next Monday for the first one :)

Just remember to write your goals down and celebrate when you cross one off. I know I need to it and I know I’m really excited to do it!
